“Think
occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight”
—
Albert Schweitzer
Today
the human race causes more suffering than has been experienced in
the entire accumulated history of the Earth! If we opened ourselves
to feeling this vast of ocean of misery we would commit to ending
it today. Factory farms are the biggest offenders, confining millions
of feeling, sensitive, intelligent beings to a living hell and producing
a tremendous pollution problem. The following organizations are committed
to helping animals, the Earth and we humans to become the truly compassionate
beings we where meant to be.

Animal Legal Defense Fund
is another excellent organization, the only one acting exclusively
to change archaic laws that allow great animal suffering. ALDF has
been pushing the U.S. legal system to end the abuse and cruelty
that result from animals' classification as property. They have
won precedent-setting victories, and continue to raise awareness
among judges and prosecutors of animals' rights to freedom from
captivity, violence and exploitation. |

Would Jesus Eat an Innocent Animal? Didn't he say,
"Do this to least of these and thou do it unto me"?
Is not Christianity about kindness and love? What could be more
kind than caring for animals whose whole life is a living hell?
This is a fascinating site about the spiritual considerations
of vegetarianism. With scholarly, well thought out arguments for
those of Christian and Jewish faith to become vegetarians. What
did Mother Teresa say about
animals? What did Pope John
Paul 11 say? You'll be surprised what religion
has really been saying for centuries about animals.

What
are the spiritual consequences of eating animals? Doreen Virtue
Ph.D., author and psychotherapist presents compelling
evidence of physical and spiritual benefits of veganism (no animal
products at all), as does Gabriel Cousens, M.D. in his book “Conscious
Eating.” Says Dr. Virtue;
"All
food has vibration, and you want to vibrate as high and fine as
you feel attuned to. Eat a diet of fresh fruits and vegetables,
nuts, and whole grains, which have the highest vibrational frequencies.
Avoid meats, dairy, alcohol, sugar, chocolate, and caffeine, which
have the lowest vibrations. And remember that the essence of all
foods you eat affects you long after the food is digested and gone…[After]
I adopted a Vegan approach to eating. The improvement in my energy
and outlook was drastic and immediate! Instead of feeling deprived,
choosing healthful foods felt easy and natural. |
MilkSucks.com
Why not dairy? When you buy dairy products, you are
contributing to veal industry. Milk cows are kept pregnant, to produce
milk. Then, their male babies are taken from them and raised in
stalls that don't allow them to walk or exercise, so that they won't
produce muscles. Please don't support the dairy industry! Please
use soy or nut-based milk instead it is better for you and the Earth.
Factory farms produce tremendous pollution! Even on organic farms
the baby calves are taken from their mothers after twenty-four hours.
The mothers cows cry for their babies with true grief—one
cattle rancher told Nan Sea Love, “It is a pitiful sound,
a pitiful sound.” |

Become Informed About Leather! Wearing leather is
no different than wearing fur! By buying or wearing leather, you
make inhumane treatment of animals profitable, and you "vote"
for cruelty with your consumer dollars. When you wear leather, other
people think it's acceptable. And it does make a difference—over
fifty percent of all profits from the factory farming industry come
from meat by products, a major one being leather. Once the demand
for meat and leather decreases, fewer animals will be killed. |

Tibetans
for a Vegetarian Society —
An idea whose time has come. His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the
Patron-in-Chief of this young organization. This wonderful site
gives both the how to's and the spiritual and practical reasons
why today vegetarianism and veganism are desirable for Tibetans,
one of the few Buddhist cultures to allow meat-eating. Today Tibet's
isolating and severe climate aren't a barrier to vegetarian and
vegan living. But eating habits change slowly, even in a culture
committed to compassion for all sentient beings. Help us spread
the word, this
organization is fairly new and deserves our support! |

Animal Place of Love, Learning and Education
Brighthaven is a non-profit organization dedicated to the well
being of senior, disabled, and special animals.
During the last 13 years they have rescued a number of special
needs animals and through this enlightening experience have seen
miraculous results when a balance of natural feeding, holistic
care and modern medicine are used in a loving respectful family
environment. I personally have often turned to Brighthaven for
advice for my own senior companion animals, they have been wonderful.
I cannot praise them enough and encourage their support. They
do amazing things with animals others would not think possible.
And if you are in the area a visit or class at Brighthaven is
uplifting and inspiring.
